EXECUTIVE ORDER BY THE GOVERNOR: WHEREAS : WHEREAS : WHEREAS: WHEREAS: ORDERED: FLAGS 0N STATE CAPITOL BUILDING AND GROUNDS ORDERED LOWERED T0 HALF STAFF The Honorable James Slaton “Jay” Shaw, former District 176 representative in the Georgia House of Representatives, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2015; and Mr. Shaw was dedicated to public service having served 16 years in the Georgia House Of Representatives and 10 years as the mayor of his beloved hometown of Lakeland, Georgia; and After stepping down from the state House of Representatives, Mr. Shaw continued to serve the State of Georgia as a member of the State Transportation Board; and It is fitting and proper to remember and honor Mr. Shaw for his dedicated service to our state. - NOW, THEREFORE, IN HONOR AND MEMORY OF JAMES SLATON “JAY” SHAW, PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA, IT IS HEREBY That the flag of the United States and the flag of the State of Georgia shall be flown at half—staff on the State Capitol building and grounds on Thursday, April 23, 2015, the day of his interment, until sunset.
