EXECUTIVE ORDER BY THE GOVERNOR: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: ORDERED: Every year in January we honor Dr. Martin Luther King, J11, who inspired our nation with his dream of hope, justice and human rights; and During the 2014 Legislative Session, the Georgia‘General Assembly overwhelmingly passed, and I signed into law House Bill 1080, legislation that authorized the placement of a statue honoring Dr. King at the state Capitol; and The privately funded project will be led by the Georgia Capitol Arts Standards Commission which will undertake the statue’s design and fund—raising efforts. Now, THEREFORE, BY THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA, IT IS HEREBY That the Honorable Calvin Smyre is hereby designated as the chief liaison regarding fund—raising efforts for this tribute to Dr. King.
