EXECUTIVE ORDER BY THE GOVERNOR: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: ORDERED: The State of Georgia holds title to approximately 76.37 acres of improved real property by virtue of a November 8, 1939 deed from Anson C. Morgan, acting through his attorney in fact, Federal Farm Mortgage Corporation, recorded in Habersham County Clerk of Superior Court in Deed Book A—35, Pages 384 & 385 (the “Property”); and Said Property is in the custody of the Department of Corrections; and The Property is a portion of the site known as Lee Arrendale State Prison and is improved with three staff houses, numbers 36, 37, and 38, (the “Structures”) which are more particularly identified in an aerial photo attached hereto as Exhibit “A” and incorporated herein by reference; and By resolution dated October 3, 2013, the Board of Corrections declared the Structures to have no value, to present security and health concerns, and to be in need of demolition; and By the same resolution, the Board resolved that the Commissioner of the Department of Corrections be authorized to take all necessary steps to request the State Properties Commission seek an Executive Order from the Governor to allow for the razing, demolition, and disposal of the Structures as in the best interest of the State of Georgia; and The Department of Corrections has funding available to raze, demolish and dispose of said Structures. NOW, THEREFORE, PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA, IT IS HEREBY The Department of Corrections is hereby authorized and directed to provide for the razing, demolition and disposal of said Structures under the terms and conditions which are deemed to be in the best interests of the State of Georgia.
