EXECUTIVE ORDER BY THE GOVERNOR: FLAGS ON STATE BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS ORDERED LOWERED TO HALF STAFF “We come, not to mourn our dead soldiers, but to praise them.” — Francis A. Walker WHEREAS: On Monday, May 26, 2014, Americans will join in unity to celebrate Memorial Day. A day designated to honor the memory of the men and women who served our great country with dedication, pride and sacrifice; and WHEREAS: As American citizens, it is our duty and privilege to pay tribute to those who have bravely and selflessly chosen to serve in the United States Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Coast Guard; and WHEREAS: A On Memorial Day, it is proper and fitting to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice, support those who lost loved ones, and pray for those who continue to serve; and WHEREAS: As Georgians, we Owe special recognition to 16 of our Own who, since our last Memorial Day celebration, gave their lives while in service to our great nation. May God bless those we lost, comfort those who were left behind, and protect those who continue to serve.
