THE STATE OF GEORGIA EXECUTIVE ORDER BY THE GOVERNOR: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: ORDERED: Child Advocate Tonya Boga has served honorably in the Office of Child Advocate since her appointment in 2011; and O.C.G.A. § 15—11—172(b) provides that the Advocate shall serve a term of three years; and O.C.G.A. § 15-11—172(a) requires the appointment of a nominating committee to consider nominees for the position of Advocate and that such nominating committee recommend at least three candidates to serve as Advocate. Now, THEREFORE, BY VIRTUE OF THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME As GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA, IT Is HEREBY That a nominating committee comprised of Judge John Sumner, Cherokee County Juvenile Court; Police Chief Joel Richards, City of Carrollton; District Attorney Jackie Johnson, Brunswick Judicial Circuit; Commissioner Keith Horton, Department of Human Services; Commissioner Avery Niles, Department of Juvenile Justice; COO Bart Gobiel, Office of the Governor; and Commissioner Frank Berry, Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities be formed to consider nominees for the position of Advocate as required by O.C.G.A. § 15-11-172. The nominating committee shall recommend for consideration persons with knowledge of the child welfare system, the juvenile justice system, and the legal system that is qualified by training and experience to perform the duties of Advocate as provided for in O.C.G.A. § 15-11-173.
