EXECUTIVE ORDER BY THE GOVERNOR: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: ORDERED: FLAGS ON STATE CAPITOL BUILDING AND GROUNDS AND JUDICIAL BUILDINGS THROUGHOUT GEORGIA ORDERED LOWERED TO HALF STAFF The Honorable Charles B. Mikell, retired Judge of the Court of Appeals of the State of Georgia, passed away on Monday, November, 4, 2013; and Judge Mikell honorably served his country in the United States Army, including duty in Vietnam with the C.l.A., and was awarded the Bronze Star and the Republic ofVietnam’s Gallantry Cross; and Judge Mikell was a well-respected jurist having served as Judge and Chief Judge of the State Court of Chatham County, President of the Georgia Council of State Court Judges, Superior Court Judge of the Eastern Judicial Circuit, and Judge and Chief Judge of the Georgia Court of Appeals; and It is fitting and proper to recognize Judge Mikell’s service to the United States of America and the State of Georgia by lowering flags on the State Capitol building and grounds, and all judicial buildings and grounds throughout the state of Georgia on the day of his interment. Now, THEREFORE, IN HONOR AND AS A MARK OF RESPECT FOR THE MEMORY OF THE HONORABLE CHARLES B. MIKELL, PURSUANT To THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA, IT IS HEREBY That the flag of the United States of America and the flag of the State of Georgia be flown at half—staff On the State Capitol building and grounds, and all judicial buildings and grounds throughout the State of Georgia on Friday, November 8, 2013, the day of his funeral, until sunset.
