7 ‘V6 THE STATE OF GEORGIA EXECUTIVE ORDER BY THE GOVERNOR: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: ORDERED: ORDERED: ORDERED: The Governor's Honors Program is a summer enrichment residential program for the state’s best and brightest high school students which provides specialized instruction that differs from the regular curriculum in content, delivery and expectation of student response. The program provides the state of Georgia with future leaders who are problem solvers, divergent thinkers, and team builders; and The Governor’s Office of Student Achievement works closely with all of Georgia’s education agencies to further the strategic goal of implementing innovative strategies to increase student achievement; and A collaborative effort among state agencies will provide the Governor’s Honors Program with enhanced educational opportunities for students, greater awareness of the program across the state, and increased outreach to sources of Volunteer and financial support. Now, THEREFORE, PURSUANT To THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGLA, IT Is HEREBY That, as of August 1, 2013, the Governor’s Honors Program will be administered by the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement. IT IS FURTHER That, as of August 1, 2013, the Department of Education will transfer all paper and electronic files, documents, emails, other records, and outstanding contracts to the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement. IT IS FURTHER That, as of August 1, 2013, the Department of Education will transfer $400,000 in state funds to the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement. After settlement of financial obligations from the 2013 session of the Governor’s Honors Program, any additional unexpended funds will be transferred to the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement during the Fiscal Year 2014 amended appropriations process.
