THE STATE OF GEORGIA EXECUTIVE ORDER BY THE GOVERNOR: WHEREAS: WHEREAS : ORDERED: ORDERED: By Executive Order dated July 8, 2013, a review commission was appointed to determine whether the indictment of DeKalb County CEO, Mr. W. Burrell Ellis, Jr., related to and adversely impacts the administration of the office of CEO pursuant to O.C.G.A. § 45-5-6; and By the report dated July 15, 2013, that commission recommended that DeKalb County CEO, Mr. W. Burrell Ellis, Jr., be suspended from office under the provisions of O.C.G.A. § 45-5-6. Now, THEREFORE, PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA, IT IS HEREBY That Mr. W. Burrell Ellis, Jr. is hereby suspended from office immediately and without further action pending the final disposition of the case or until the expiration of his term of office, whichever occurs first, as provided in O.C.G.A. § 45—5—6(c). IT IS FURTHER That, pursuant to O.C.G.A. § 45—5—6(d)(1), District 5 Commissioner, Mr. Lee N. May, is hereby appointed to fill the temporary vacancy in the office of CEO of DeKalb County pending the final disposition of the case involving Mr. Ellis or until the expiration of his term of office.
