EXECUTIVE ORDER BY THE GOVERNOR: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: ORDERED: ORDERED: The Special Council on Criminal Justice Reform was successful in its study of the Georgia juvenile justice system as well in its subsequent recommendations to the General Assembly; and The General Assembly drafted House Bill 242 based on the recommendations of the Council; and House Bill 242 passed both houses of the General Assembly unanimously; and Another recommendation made by the Council was to implement a performance incentive grant program whereby counties will apply for grants to create or strengthen community—based options that can reduce recidivism in return for a promise to commit less offenders to expensive state facilities; and The General Assembly ‘appropriated $5 million to pilot a performance incentive grant program, the distribution of which is to be administered by the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council. NOW, THEREFORE, BY VIRTUE OF THE POWER VESTED IN ME AS GOVERNOR OF THE STATE GEORGIA, IT IS HEREBY That the Juvenile Justice Incentive Grant Program Funding Committee be assembled. The Committee shall review applications and make appropriate funding decisions based on the applications. IT IS FURTHER That the Juvenile Justice Incentive Grant Program Funding Committee shall consist of nine (9) members appointed by the Governor to serve at the pleasure of the Governor.
