THE STATE OF GEORGIA EXECUTIVE ORDER BY THE GOVERNOR: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: ORDERED: The Adjutant General is the executive head of the Georgia Department of Defense (O.C.G.A. § 38-2-130); and It is a duty of the Adjutant General to direct the planning and employment of the forces of the organized militia in carrying out their state military mission (O.C.G.A. § 38—2—151); and The State Defense Force is a part of Georgia's organized militia (O.C.G.A. § 38-2-3 and 38-2-23); and The members of Georgia's organized militia, with their consent, may be ordered by the Governor to state active duty for any lawful purpose or purposes (O.C.G.A. § 38-2-25); and The Governor wishes to delegate to the Adjutant General —and to those subordinates of the Adjutant General as the Adjutant General may designate- the authority to order members of the State Defense Force to state active duty for any lawful purpose or purposes including but not limited to those purposes as outlined in O.C.G.A. § 38-2-25(a), Cb) and ((1). Now, THEREFORE, PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA, IT IS HEREBY That the Adjutant General -and those subordinates of the Adjutant General as the Adjutant General may designate- is delegated the authority of the Governor as Commander in Chief of the militia of Georgia (O.C.G.A. § 38-2-110) to order members of the State Defense Force to state active duty (O.C.G.A. § 38-2-25).
