EXECUTIVE ORDER BY THE GOVERNOR: FLAGS ON STATE BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS ORDERED LOWERED TO HALF STAFF “The bravest are surely those who have the clearest vision of what is before them, glory and danger alike, and yet notwithstanding, go out to meet it. ” —— Thucydides WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: ORDEIUED: Each year, proud Americans join together On Memorial Day to celebrate and honor the memories of the brave men and women who have given their lives in support Of freedom; and It is the duty of all Americans to pay homage to those who have bravely and selflessly chosen to wear the uniforms of the United States Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Coast Guard; and Since our last Memorial Day celebration, we lost 23 young Georgians who made the ultimate sacrifice while Serving the United States of America. We offer our thanks for those who gave all, our condolences for those who lost loved ones and our prayers Of support for those who continue to serve. Now, THEREFORE, IN HONOR AND As A MARK OF RESPECT FOR THE MEMORY OF THOSE WHO HAVE MADE THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE IN DEFENSE OF OUR NATION, PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA, IT IS HEREBY That during the weekend immediately preceding Memorial Day (May 26 and 27), the flag of the United States and the flag of the Great State of Georgia shall be flown at half—staff on all State buildings and grounds.
