T HE STAT E OF GEORGIA EXECUTIVE ORDER BY THE GOVERNOR: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: ORDERED: FLAGS ON STATE BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS ORDERED LOWERED To HALF STAFF By joint resolution, the United States Congress authorized the President of the United States of America to designate May 15 of each year as “Peace Officers Memorial Day” and the week in which it falls as “Police Week”; and Thousands of Georgia’s bravest men and women, in varying capacities of law enforcement, answer the call “TO Protect and TO Serve” their fellow man; and It is imperative that all citizens are aware Of and understand the duties, responsibilities, hazards, and sacrifices made by law enforcement officers who work for the betterment of their communities; and On Peace Officers Memorial Day, it is proper and fitting to honor the brave men and women who offer their lives in the pursuit of excellence and the protection Of life and property. N Ow, THEREFORE, IN HONOR AND AS A MARK OF RESPECT FOR THE OFFICERS WHO SERVE, AND IN MEMORY OF THE OFFICERS WHO HAVE FALLEN, PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA, IT IS HEREBY That, in conjunction with the Proclamation of the President of the United States of America, the flag of the United States and the flag of the State of Georgia shall be flown at half-staff on all state buildings and grounds on Tuesday, May 15, 2012.
