THE STATE OF GEORGIA EXECUTIVE ORDER BY THE GOVERNOR: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: The State of Georgia holds title to certain real property by virtue of a July 14, 1956 Deed from Lowndes County to the State of Georgia, recorded in Lowndes County Clerk of Superior Court in Deed Book 22, Page 306; and a February 8, 1958 Quitclaim Deed from Lowndes County to the State of Georgia, recorded in Lowndes County Clerk of Superior Court in Deed Book 37, Page 492 (the “Property”); and The Property is improved with those facilities known as “Valdosta State Prison—Lowndes Annex” specifically including the structures known as the “Old Maintenance/Welding Shop,” “Flammable Storage Building,” “Paint Storage Building,” and a mobile home (hereinafter collectively referred to as the “Structures”) as described in Exhibit “A”, attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference; and Said Property is in the custody of the Georgia Department of Corrections; and The Department of Corrections has a need to relocate the existing perimeter road to improve prison security; and The Structures are presently located in the path of the planned perimeter road relocation; and On January 5, 2012, the Board of Corrections resolved that the Commissioner of Corrections is authorized to take all necessary steps, including execution of all necessary documents, to request the Georgia State Properties Commission seek an Executive Order from the Governor to allow for the razing, demolition, and disposal of the Structures as deemed to be in the best interest of the State of Georgia; and
