THE STATE OF GEORGIA EXECUTIVE ORDER BY THE GOVERNOR: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: ORDERED: On November, 22, 2011, three members of the Brooks County Board of Education were indicted on several counts of Unlawful Possession of Ballots and Interfering with Elector; and Said indictment was transmitted to me, as Governor of the State of Georgia, and by Executive Order dated December 20, 2011, a Review Commission was empanelled to determine whether the indictments related to and adversely affected the administration of duties of a member of the Brooks County Board of Education; and The Review Commission unanimously recommended the suspension of the indicted members and by Executive Order dated January 10, 2012, those members were suspended from the Brooks County Board of Education pending the final disposition of the case(s) or until the expiration of their terms of office, whichever should occur first; and The suspensions of Dr. Nancy Whitfield Dennard, Elizabeth Diane Thomas, and Linda Faye Troutman have left the Brooks County Board of Education without a quorum and unable to conduct routine business duties. NOW, THEREFORE, PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA, IT IS HEREBY That pursuant to O.C.G.A. § 45-5-6(d)(1), I hereby appoint Luke Mitchell to serve in the District 3 seat, Dr. Gerald Golden to serve in the District 4 seat, and Denise Monroe to serve as an at-large member to fill the temporary Vacancies on the Brooks County Board of Education until such time the offices of the indicted members are reinstated, permanently vacated, or their terms of office expire, whichever should occur first. 1|...
