THE STATE OF GEORGIA EXECUTIVE ORDER BY THE GOVERNOR: FLAGS ON STATE CAPITOL BUILDING ORDERED LOWERED T0 HALF STAFF WHEREAS: WHEREAS: WHEREAS: ORDERED: Captain Nicholas S. Whitlock, 29, of Newnan, Georgia, honorably served our country in the United States Air Force; and Captain Whitlock made the ultimate sacrifice on Saturday, February 18 when the aircraft he was in was involved in an accident near Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, Africa while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom; and It is fitting and proper to recognize Captain Whitlock’s service and sacrifice by lowering the flags on the State Capitol building and grounds to half-staff on the day of his interment. Now, THEREFORE, IN HONOR AND AS A MARK OF RESPECT FOR THE MEMORY OF CAPTAIN NICHOLAS S. WHITLOCK, PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA, IT IS HEREBY That the flag of the United States and the flag of the State of Georgia be flown at half-staff on the State Capitol building and grounds on Sunday, February 26, 2012, the day of his funeral, until sunset.
